Lively native Meagan Duhamel and pairs skating partner Eric Radford are still glowing from their gold-medal performance at the 2012 Canadian Figure Skating Championships Saturday night.

The new Canadian champions scored 190.11 overall following the short and freeskate programs, which ranks them among the world's top teams — quite the feat considering Duhamel and Radford only joined forces on the ice in 2010.

“That's why we came here, we came to Moncton to get the national title,” Duhamel said in an interview with Skate Canada prior to their skate Saturday night.

According to media reports, their performance had the crowd on its feet at the end of the program, exploding with excitement.

“We were hungry to go out there and do it,” Duhamel said. “There was no way either of us was going to mess up something in that long program. We were so determined.”

Following the national championships, Duhamel and Radford were named to Team Canada for the upcoming ISU World Figure Skating Championships in France and the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Colorado.
