If not a trip to provincials, then capturing the Brampton Canadettes Tournament over Easter weekend provides a decent consolation prize. The Sudbury Midget BB Lady Wolves capped off a successful season, walking away with their third tournament title of the year in Brampton.

The locals looked impressive in chalking up five consecutive victories while not allowing a single goal against. The streak began Friday as Amber Lewis netted a pair of goals, while Alyssa Talevi registered the first of five straight shutouts, blanking the Clearview Ice Cats 4-0. Brittney Rouleau and Melodie Pominville rounded out the scoring for the winners.

The Lady Wolves did one better in game two, with five separate goal scorers hitting the mark in a 5-0 win over the Etobicoke Dolphins. Everett Abresch, Kayla Forget, Amber Lewis, Natasha Lewis and Holly Lalonde handled the scoring for Sudbury.

Coach Brian Band's troops duplicated the feat in game three, sweeping aside the Mississauga Chiefs by an identical 5-0 score. Abresch, Forget, Karlene Fox, Amber Lewis and Celina Robicheau scored one goal apiece as the Lady Wolves continued to enjoy a balanced attack in this tournament.

Finally running into a hot goaltender, the locals were forced to overtime in the semifinals before Amber Lewis scored for the fourth consecutive game, lifting Sudbury past the Aurora Panthers 1-0.

That scare was the wake-up call the team needed as they were quickly back to their old tricks, easily disposing of the Scarborough Sharks in the final, posting a solid 4-0 win. Amber Lewis, Forget, Kaitlin Plourde and Pominville found the back of the net, while Abresch and Natalie Band finished as leading scorers on the team, each one registering eight points in five games.

With five shutouts added to her total, Talevi would finish the season with 19 shutouts in all for the team which also won gold at tournaments in Cornwall and Kanata earlier in the season.
