Track North alumni, Ross Proudfoot of Lively, narrowly missed a podium position at the North American Central America Caribbean (NACAC) U-23 Track and Field Championships contested this past weekend in Guanajuato, Mexico.
In a tactically run men's 1,500-m event, the 20-year-old finished fourth in a time of 3:52.41. Kyle Merber of the United States won gold less than a second ahead of Proudfoot in 3:51.61.
"Running at 7,000-feet altitude, I knew going in it would likely be a tactical race," Proudfoot said. "I was positioned well with a lap to go but just couldn't hang onto a medal spot over the last 50 metres."
Proudfoot will next compete at the Toronto International Track and Field Games on July 11.
