The Sudbury Dragon Boat Festival takes over Ramsey Lake July 14 and there will be more boats on the water this year.

The organizing committee announced a 14 percent increase in the number of registered teams from last year’s event. The Festival will see 63 teams competing this year — five are from out of town — up from 55 last year. That equates to roughly 1,400 paddlers.

The charity recipient for the 2012 Sudbury Dragon Boat Festival is Meals on Wheels Sudbury, to help with the costs of new kitchen equipment. T

Spectators are invited to come out to Ramsey Lake all day Saturday to enjoy the races, vendors and other activities.
