Some of the Sudbury Rockhound rep lacrosse teams were disappointed with not being seeded in a higher classification for the 2012 Ontario Lacrosse Festival, but it's opposing teams that are paying the price.

The local crew garnered gold and silver over the first weekend of competition, with two more teams making the trek to Iroquois Park for the upcoming weekend.

The Sudbury Bantam Rockhounds completed their run of six straight wins, capturing the OLA Division "D" banner with a 6-2 win over Whitby (3).

The team previously knocked off, in order, Cambridge (4-2), Brockville (6-1), North Perth (7-0), Halton Hills 2 (6-5) and the Toronto Stars 2 (5-4).

The Bantam team roster included goaltender Evan Peltier, as well as Ryder Thususka, Kristopher Lizzi, James Munroe, David Withers, Ward Kyle, Alec St. George, Felix Cote, Tyler Michaud, Tristan Simeoni, Joshua Duckett, Brett Whitehead, Riley Roy, Matt Reid and Nick Chokan.

The Sudbury Tyke Rockhounds fell just one game shy of duplicating the feat, dropping a 15-9 decision to Shelburne in the Division "E" final.

The local youngsters defeated Caledon (10-1) in their opening game but were doubled, 10-5, by Shelburne in Game 2. Sudbury then bounced back to outscore North Perth (11-0), Peterborough 2 (8-4) and Oshawa 2 (5-4), earning another crack at the eventual gold-medal winners.
