The Sons of Pitches Athletics (SOPA) slo-pitch team competed at the SPN Co-ed Provincial Championships in Niagara Falls on the weekend, taking second place in the D division. Last year, the team placed 10th in the same division.

"Next year, we move up a division and cannot wait to play a higher calibre of ball," Craig Thompson, team captain, said. "It's going to be a challenge, but I know it's a challenge we can definitely accomplish."

As a result of their second-place finish, SOPA has qualified for the national championship, which will be held in Niagara Falls next August.

"We would like to thank the businesses in Sudbury who helped with monetary sponsorship and donations," Luc Audette, team member, added.
