Stumblin' Home returned to the city smiling ear to ear earlier this week. The Sudbury slo-pitch team was crowned the A Division champions at the SPN provincial championships, held in Niagara Falls Aug. 24 to 26.

The team battled hard all weekend, posting five straight victories against some of the top competition from all over Ontario. In the semifinals, Stumblin' Home was up against TKO — the reigning champions of the past two years. For the second time in the tournament, the Sudbury team came out on top.

"We played great all weekend," Trevor Blanchard, team member, said. "We knew we had the team to win a provincial championship, but to accomplish the goal we had set forth took an effort from every one of us.

"I am so proud to be part of this family of baseball players and to have been able to have the opportunity to be crowned a champion was the icing on the cake."

The team also boasted both the tournament MVPs. The top male of the tournament was Kevin Dupuis, while the top female designation went to Katie Goggins.

"Both played superior defence and contributed to the team's offensive ouput in every game," Blanchard said.

The team extended its thanks to sponsors Cecchetto and Son's and Anmar Mechanical.
