With the second of their summer competitions now out of the way, the Sudbury Skating Club crew will begin to work in earnest on fine-tuning their routines in time for Sectionals in November.

A total of 10 athletes from the area travelled to Thornhill recently, participating in the Figure Skating Boutique Summer Skate 2012.

Following up a first-place finish in Ottawa earlier this month, Madeline Baron garnered a third-place ribbon in the Juvenile Women U14-1 grouping, posting a free skate score of 24.14 points.

Alyssa Murray was the only other local skater to crack the top five, placing fifth in the Novice Women (3) division with scores of 27.64 (short) and 42.60 (free skate) for a combined total of 70.24 points.

Murray finished roughly half a point from reaching the podium, just back of Emily Ah-Yen (70.39) of York Region and Shea Timmins (70.76) from Minto Skating Club.

Mackenzie Anderson posted a near identical score to her results from the Minto Skate, finishing seventh in the Pre-Juvenile Women (U11-2) at 18.25 points.
