The Laurentian Voyageurs Men's Lacrosse team held off the perennial CUFLA powerhouse McMaster Mauraders Saturday to earn the victory in front of a hometown crowd.

On the strength of two goals by Clinton Lamarsh, a single by Matt Volpe, and dominance of the faceoff contests by Paul Jelley, the Voyageurs emerged with a score of 3-3 at the half.

The third quarter was nearly all Laurentian as the team exploded for five markers with Volpe and Lamarsh each potting another, and Jon van der Geissen, Paul Jelley, and Neil McInroy finding the back of the next as well.

In the last quarter, the Marauders managed to score three unanswered goals, but it was not enough. The standout defence offered by goalie Alex Stewart, and longpole work by Rob Pollock and Chris Browne, left the match result at 8-6 in favour of the Vees.

The team travels south this weekend to take on the Guelph Gryphons and University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
