Track North Athletic Club alumni Ross Proudfoot has kicked off his third cross-country running season as a Guelph Gryphon with a victory at the Queen's Invitational this past weekend in Kingston.

The 20-year-old Lively native covered the rolling 10-kilometre course at Old Fort Henry in 31:45, just ahead of Guelph teammate Yves Sikowabu. Proudfoot's Guelph team came second overall in the team competition, placing behind the host team from Queen's.

"I felt really good today," Proudfoot said. "We have been training hard these past few weeks with some pretty high mileage and my legs are responding well. This was a nice way to open the season."

Proudfoot will next compete at the Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota Sept. 29.
