The Laurentian Lady Vees got back to their winning ways on Sept. 26, with a 2-0 victory over the Nipissing Lakers.

With goals from Crystal-Ann Hackett and Julie Lopez, the Vees were able to improve their overall record to 5-3-1, and keeping their sights set on a spot in the divisional playoffs.

The first half brought most of the action, with both of the Laurentian goals coming early in the game. The first of the goals came in the fourth minute, with Hackett adding to her tally to give the Vees the early lead.

The pressure from the Vees mounted once again, and led to another breakthrough. In the thirty-third minute, Lopez netted the second of the game, doubling the Laurentian lead.

These goals cap off a spell of strong performances from both Lopez and Hackett, both of whom have been pivotal in the excellent play of the Vees thus far this season.

The second half brought about fewer chances, with the Vees holding onto their comfortable lead. This was in large part to Richelle Greenwood, whose eight saves gave yet another clean sheet, marking her fourth of the season. This excellent play between the posts has been a major factor in the on field performance of the Vees this season.

The Vees will continue their push for the playoffs against the Trent Excalibur on Sept. 29, where they will be seeking another victory to add to the collection.
