The Sudbury Wolves return to home ice tonight after a successful thanksgiving weekend road trip, finishing with a perfect record of 3-0.

The Wolves were led by the impressive play of Josh Leivo who netted six goals and a +5 rating in three contests this weekend. Leivo’s strong effort earned him OHL player of the week honours.

On Friday, the Wolves are back in action at the Sudbury Arena when they face-off against the Saginaw Spirit. The Wolves will be looking to avenge their 5-0 loss on Sept. 27 at the Dow Event Center at the hands of the Spirit.

Heading into the weekend, the Spirit’s record sits at 2-3-2-0. Saginaw comes into the game boasting four NHL Draft picks on their current roster, including Vincent Trocheck (2011, 3rd Round, Florida), and from the 2012 draft, Justin Kea (3rd Round, Buffalo), Jake Patterson (3rd Round, Detroit), and Garret Ross (5th Round, Chicago).

Trocheck currently sits 10th in league scoring having put up 10 points in seven games this season. Trocheck led the Spirit last season amassing an impressive 85 points in 65 games.

On Saturday, the Wolves will head down Highway 400 to battle their divisional rival the Barrie Colts. The Colts head into the weekend with an impressive 5-2 record. Game-time is at 7:30 p.m.

The Colts offensive attack is lead by OHL superstar and the Winnipeg’s seventh overall pick in 2011, Mark Schiefle. Schiefle was a key member of Team Canada this summer, which was successful in winning the second ever Canada vs. Russia Challenge. Schiefle enters the weekend fourth in league scoring with 11 points in seven contests this season.
