The Sudbury Wolves' top scorer, Josh Leivo, and team captain, Frank Corrado, have been named to Team OHL in the Canada Vs. Russia Subway Super Series, according to a news release from the organization.

The series is set to be played in several provinces, including Ontario, in November.

Corrado, 19, was named team captain of the Wolves this season after being drafted and signed by the Vancouver Canucks last summer. The Vaughn native is the Wolves’ leading scoring defenceman this season with nine assists in his first 13 games. Corrado is a former second-round draft selection of the Sudbury Wolves in the 2009 OHL draft. The 6-1, 190-lb defender is currently playing in his fourth OHL season.

Leivo, 19, was named alternate captain of the Wolves this season after being drafted by Toronto Maple Leafs last summer. The Barrie native currently leads the Wolves in scoring with eight goals and three assists for 11 points in 13 games. Leivo was also the top scorer among all players that participated in the Jr. Club World Cup tournament that the Wolves won gold in Omsk, Russia back in August.

Corrado will play for Team OHL in Sarnia when the two-game Ontario series wraps up on Nov. 12. Leivo will play for Team OHL in Guelph on Nov. 8 and will also join Corrado in Sarnia on Nov. 12.

Both players will be looking to showcase their talents to the Hockey Canada World Junior scouting staff that will be evaluating players for Team Canada’s main try-out camp in December, according to the news release.

“The Burgess Family and the Sudbury Wolves organization are extremely proud of Frank and Josh for being selected to play in this prestigious international event” said Wolves’ President Blaine Smith. “Both players have worked extremely hard this season and are very deserving of this special recognition and honour to represent their team, league and country against Team Russia.”
