Top UFC lightweight contender Nate Diaz will be in Sudbury this weekend and will be holding a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts seminar for a good cause, according to a news release.

Diaz is considered one of the top five lightweights in the UFC. He holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was the Season 5 winner of the Ultimate Fighter reality show.

The seminar is being hosted by the Northern Ontario Multi-Discipline Athletic Arts Academy (NOMDAAA), and it's open to anyone, including beginners.

Sudbury's own UFC fighter, Mitch Gagnon — who trains at the NOMDAAA facility — will also be participating in the seminar.

All proceeds of the seminar will be going to support the NOMDAAA/TROOP BJJ Youth Initiative Program for at-risk youth.

NOMDAAA is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving Sudbury and Northern Ontario a premium student experience in athletic arts and health and fitness training at affordable rates, according to the news release.

The seminar will run Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NOMDAAA/Team Shredder training facility at 1010 Lorne St.

The participation fee is $50 in advance, and $65 at the door.

If you don't want to participate but would like to see Diaz in action, spectators are welcome for $10 at the door.
