The Sudbury Wolves continue to have their players recognized for their on-ice feats as 19-year-old rearguard Frank Corrado was named OHL Player of the Week.

The Vancouver Canucks prospect had an outstanding weekend recording a goal and six assists for seven points in three games. The Vaughn native contributed to 70 per cent of the Wolves’ offence as the Wolves scored 10 goals in three weekend games.

Corrado is the second Wolves’ player to be recognized as Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Josh Leivo was OHL Player of the Week in the second week of the season.

Corrado, had five assists and was named the game’s first star as the Wolves defeated the Niagara IceDogs on Friday night by a score of 7-2. On Saturday, the Wolves played a solid road game against one of the league’s best teams in Owen Sound. Corrado picked-up an assist on the only goal of the game scored by the Wolves, as the Attack prevailed 3-1. On Sunday, Corrado scored his first goal of the season, which proved to earn the Wolves a valuable point in Mississauga as the Wolves dropped a 3-2 shoot-out decision to the Steelheads.

Corrado was named team captain by Wolves’ head coach Trent Cull back in September and the four-year OHL star defenceman has not disappointed.

“Frank has been an outstanding leader and performer for us on and off the ice and he really caught fire last weekend offensively,” Cull said. “Frank has been very solid defensively for us as well as he plays in all situations and logs upwards of 30 minutes per game. The Vancouver Canucks have an outstanding player in Frank Corrado.”

Corrado is currently tied for the lead in team scoring with Josh Leivo with 16 points each. Corrado currently sits in third place among league leaders in top scoring defencemen, just one point back of Dougie Hamilton(Niagara) and Matt Petgrave (Oshawa).
