Young patients at the Children's Treatment Centre of Health Sciences North were treated to a visit from some of their hockey heroes on March 4.
The Sudbury Wolves visited with the young patients, posed for pictures and handed out Sudbury Wolves hockey cards.
“The Children’s Treatment Centre looks forward to this visit every year by the Sudbury Wolves, and we are so thankful for their support,” said Jeff Sampson, clinical manager of HSN’s Children’s Treatment Centre. “It creates a buzz for the kids who are so excited to see their hockey heroes and get to actually play hockey with them.”
This year, Perkins and the Sudbury Wolves are lending their support to the HSN Volunteer Association’s Pennies For Pediatrics campaign, to raise $100,000 for children with developmental conditions such as autism.
Jan. 25 was Perkins Night at the Sudbury Wolves home game. Fans at the game were encouraged to make a donation to Pennies For Pediatrics. The Sudbury Wolves also donated a portion of their 50-50 draw to the campaign.
“It is an absolute honour and privilege to be associated with two great community organizations who give back to our fantastic community,” said Todd Connors, director of food and beverage for Westmount Hospitality Group (Perkins). “The dedication and effort put forth by everyone involved to raise funds for the Pennies for Peds campaign was quite inspiring. I look forward to many more partnerships.”
During the Wolves' visit to the Children's Treatment Centre, a cheque was presented to Pennies for Pediatrics from the Sudbury Wolves.
“The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to support the CTC as our players look forward to visiting youngsters at the Center every year,” said Wolves President Blaine Smith. “The Wolves are also proud to partner with Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in sponsoring the Kids Feel Better hospital program and we are pleased to make a financial contribution to the Pennies for Pediatrics fundraising program in 2013.
