The Nickel City Major Atom AA Rebels were due for a win over the West Ferris Wingate.

Jack Stockfish had other ideas.

The two Northern Ontario rivals had met in a handful of tournament finals this year, with the North Bay crew generally getting the better of the local lads. With a trip to the Ontario Hockey Federation championships on the line at the NOHA Tournament of Champions on the weekend, the Rebels were hoping to reverse their recent lack of success.

Nickel City opened the scoring at 5:25 of the second period on a pretty individual effort from Zacharie Giroux, making a nice deke in tight to standout Wingate goaltender Reece Proulx.

Little did the Rebels know that would be the end of their scoring Sunday afternoon. From that point on, Stockfish was the story.

Scoring a pair of goals just over two minutes apart late in the middle stanza, Stockfish completed his hat trick with five minutes to play in the third, lifting West Ferris past Nickel City 3-1.

The Rebels advanced to the championship affair after posting a 4-1 win over the Sudbury Major Atom AA Bulldogs as Hunter Brazier, Justin Dauphinais, André Piette and Ethan Rogers pulled the trigger once each for Nickel City.

Giordino Biondi answered with a second-period power-play marker for the Bulldogs.

Over on the other Countryside pad, West Ferris was busy blanking the Soo Greyhounds 4-0 as Ethan Masson netted a pair of goals to lead the way.

Following are scores and goal scorers from some of the remaining games that were played over the weekend:
