Despite a nine-point effort from Bob Pollock (3G-6A), Laurentian dropped their season opener 13-10 to the Badgers, as the trio of Greg Davidson (five goals), Brandon Slade (4) and Kyle Davis (3) showed the way for the winners.
Laurentian veteran Clint Lamarsh helped out in a losing cause, racking up two goals and three assists, with Phil Romanet and Matt Volpe also enjoying two-goal efforts.
Matt Kussmann rounded out the scoring for the Voyageurs, while Ian Walters was saddled with the loss in net. On Sunday afternoon, Brock scored six straight goals in the second quarter, breaking open a 2-2 game and pulling away for a 19-5 victory.
Davidson (five goals) and Davis (3) were front and centre, once again, for the Badgers, while Brad Gerrow potted his first two tallies of the young season for Laurentian. Pollock, Volpe and Paul Jelley also scored for LU, in tough next weekend as well on the road.
The Voyageurs are slotted for one game only, visiting the McMaster Marauders on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Alumni Field in Hamilton. A quirky 2013 schedule sees Laurentian playing five of their first six games at home, then taking to the road for the entire month of October.
