The ladies recorded a 1-1 tie, in Ottawa, last Friday against the La Cité Coyotes, as TK Rocca netted her 10th goal of the season for Cambrian. The Sault Ste. Marie native finished second in league scoring, accounting for more than two-thirds of the team’s offence.
Unfortunately, the Shield closed out their regular-season schedule with a 9-0 loss at the hands of the powerful Algonquin Thunder on Saturday. With a record of 4-4-1, Cambrian finished in fifth place in the East Division, drawing the Durham Lords, on the road, in a qualifying game on Oct. 12.
Durham upended Cambrian 5-1 when the teams met in Sudbury back on Sept. 21.
While their male counterparts have not have much to cheer about this fall, the Shield men’s soccer crew did manage to celebrate their first victory on Friday, downing La Cité 4-1.
St. Charles College graduate Brandon Ladouceur paced the attack with a pair of goals, with singles going to captain Stephane Legrand and Danny Radu. The Cambrian lads completed their schedule with a 5-0 loss to Algonquin, posting a record of 1-7-0, though four of the losses came by a margin of just a single goal.
