Bradley Chaput, 13, and Marissa Meandro, 12, participated at the National Martial Arts Circuit Overall Competitor Awards and Open Tournament on Feb. 15 in Mississagua. They were each awarded a second-place overall finish in the black belt under 12 divisions. The awards reflect all the points earned during competitions the previous year in their respective divisions, as well as team events where Bradley and Marissa compete together. The plaques and belts were presented by Michael Palitti, president of the National Martial Arts Circuit. Both students train at Benoits Martial Arts. They are both intensively training for a large list of tournaments, within Canada and the United States, which are taking place in the next 10 months. They are both aiming to qualify for Worlds in Dublin, Ireland this coming October.
