Power outage cancels Barons, Rivermen series opener

A blown transformer caused the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League to postpone Game 1 between the Sudbury Nickel Barons and the Espanola Rivermen at McClelland Arena in Copper Cliff last night. The blown transformer caused a blackout.
A blown transformer caused the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League to postpone Game 1 between the Sudbury Nickel Barons and the Espanola Rivermen at McClelland Arena in Copper Cliff last night.

The blown transformer caused a blackout. The game will be replayed with the date and time of that contest being made available once finalized.

The NOJHL said in a news release it apologizes for any inconvenience these events may have caused.

The next game in the series is currently scheduled to be played Friday at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex at 7:30 p.m.
