On April 10, the Sudbury Miners Special Olympics Floor Hockey Team battled the Cops to Conquer Cancer Team at St. Benedict's gym. The game was a tuneup for the Miners as they will be sending two teams to a tournament in Newmarket in May. The tournament is a qualifier for the 2015 Provincial Floor Hockey Championships to be held in Ottawa. The Provincial Championships were hosted by Sudbury in 2011. Close to 40 athletes on the two Miners teams took on the Cops to Conquer Cancer team in front of a packed house. The Miners looked sharp winning both games in a shootout to take the Cops to Conquer Cancer Cup. Everyone involved, players, coaches and fans all look forward to the rematch next year.
