Laurentian swimmers dominate Kirkland Lake Mile of Gold meet

Twenty-seven swimmers from the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club (SLSC) went to Kirkland Lake the last weekend of April to race in the Mile of Gold Invitational swim meet.
Twenty-seven swimmers from the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club (SLSC) went to Kirkland Lake the last weekend of April to race in the Mile of Gold Invitational swim meet.

The highlight of the weekend was the nine-person relay SLSC team that won the 1,650-metre relay and the ounce of pure gold that was the prize.

Chris Eastick, Morgan Kivivnen, Erik Wainman, Kasey Thompson, Alex Sarvas, Nina Kucheran, Micheal Wainman, Emmy Kucheran and Kelly Thompson swam for the gold.

Other SLSC swimmers that won medals include: Jeremi Aubin (three gold, two silver, one bronze); Thomas Boyd (seven gold); Jesse Chisholm (two silver, three bronze); Phillipe De la Rive (one gold, four silver and two bronze); and Chris Eastick (six gold).

Also leaving with medals were MacKenzie Fowke (one bronze); Morgan Kivinen (one silver, two bronze); Emmy Kucheran (two silver, two bronze); Nina Kucheran (two gold, one silver, one bronze); Patrick Laliberte (one silver, one bronze), Allison Nordquist (one gold, two silver, three bronze) and Hannah Nordquist (two gold, three silver, two bronze).

And finally, more swimmers with new medals on their trophy shelves are Jordano Piccoli (four gold, two silver); Alex Sarvas (one gold, two silver, three bronze); Everett Smith (two gold, two silver, two bronze); Kasey Thompson (four silver), Kelly Thompson (one gold, two silver, three bronze); Erik Wainman (four gold, one silver, one bronze), Micheal Wainman (five gold, one silver) and Thomas Webb (two gold, one silver, three bronze).

The SLSC hosted the East Side Mario's Swim Meet from May 2-4 at Laurentian University. Results to come.
