Another step toward Ireland for young martial artists

A trio of young martial artists from Benoit's Xtreme Team was at it again this past weekend, each putting their skills to the test at the Barrie Bushido Open on May 10.

Bradley Chaput, 13 competed in two 13-14-year-old boys black-belt divisions, where we was awarded one gold and one silver medal.

Juliana Meandro, 10, competed in three 10-11-year-old-and-under divisions and managed to win a silver medal and a bronze medal.

Marissa Meandro, 12, competed in four 12-and-under girls black-belt divisions and earned four medals: a gold, two silvers and a bronze.

The trio trains at Benoit's martial arts, under the guidance of Shihan Don Benoit and coach Ian Boyne.

The athletes are sponsored by Team NMAC.

Next weekend they will attend WKC National team tryouts in Ottawa with hopes to qualify for worlds in Dublin, Ireland this coming October.
