It might have only been an exhibition game, but the Wolves looked fantastic Saturday night in Sault Ste. Marie as the Wolves skated away with a 7-4 win.

With the Greyhounds dressing star players like NHL-drafted Sergei Tolchinsky, Kyle Jenkins and Tyler Ganly, the Wolves exploded for five goals in the third period to record their first win of the exhibition pre-season.

Leading the way was overage forward Ray Huether who continues to make his case for an overage position. The crafty forward scored two goals and was dominating at times with his speed and offensive skill. Jacob Harris was equally impressive as the Georgetown native scored a goal and added two assists for a 3 point night.

Newcomer Brody Milne scored his first goal as a Wolf while Kyle Capobianco scored a highlight reel goal to record his first goal as a Sudbury Wolf. Nathan Pancel and Matt Schmalz rounded-out the scoring for the Wolves.

Evan de Haan and Conor Cummins each recorded two assists for the Wolves. Rookie goaltender Sam Tanguay recorded his first win in goal for the Sudbury Wolves.

Shots on goal finished 38-23 in favour of the Wolves who played a text-book road game despite the absence of overage defenceman Jeff Corbett and star forward Nick Baptiste. The Wolves also lost rookie defenceman Jonathan Masters early in the game after the Thunder Bay native scored a win in a fight with Soo's tough-guy and overage forward Jean Dupuy.

The Wolves trailed 2-0 after the first period and 3-2 after two periods of play. By the 8 minute mark of the third period, the Wolves had taken a 6-3 lead. The Wolves were 3 for 7 on the power play while the Wolves killed 4 of 5 Greyhound power plays. The Wolves outshot the Hounds 17-5 in the final frame.

Rookie defenceman Trenton Bourque was outstanding in this game. First round selection Michael Pezzetta played a strong game and Brady Pataki was a physical presence for the Wolves. All three youngsters played important roles in the road win.

The Wolves will now prepare for a double-header with the Barrie Colts. The Wolves travel to Barrie on Thursday before returning home to host the Colts on Friday night at the Sudbury Arena. Tickets are $12 for all ages and are available at the arena ticket office.
