The Sudbury Minor Hockey Association, in conjunction with the Sudbury District Secondary School Athletic Association, will be hosting a hockey scorekeeping/timekeeping clinic on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

The event, which is completely free of charge, will take place from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Lasalle Secondary School.

Longtime junior hockey scorekeeper Randy Pascal, who worked the gold-medal game along with Sudburian Todd Guthrie at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, will be handling the instruction at the clinic.

The first hour (6:30-7:30 p.m.) will be devoted to new timekeepers, with a heavy emphasis on understanding how to handle all of the functions of the Harris scoreboard, as well as the proper completion of scoresheet information.

The second hour will provide an ideal refresher for timekeepers with some experience, getting into the discussion regarding situations of multiple penalties, majors, misconducts and game misconducts, as well as rule variances that exist between leagues.

No pre-registration is required, and participants are asked to bring along a pen and scrap paper. For further information, kindly contact Randy Pascal via email at [email protected].
