The Sudbury Wolves completed a trade today with North Bay as the Wolves moved overage forward Ray Huether to the Battalion in exchange for a fourth-round draft selection.

Huether played in all 68 games last season for Sudbury and recorded nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points. Huether was caught in the numbers game in Sudbury as teams can only play three overage players and the Wolves made commitments to Brody Silk, Jeff Corbett and Nathan Pancel as graduating players this season.

“There are 18 other teams that I would rather see a player like Ray go to; however, the majority of teams are set with their overage players and Ray deserves to be playing his final year in the OHL,” said Wolves’ GM Blaine Smith.

“I also feel that the Sudbury Wolves received fair value in the trade and we can now use the fourth-round draft selection to acquire a good younger player in the
future. Ray has been a great teammate and a model citizen for us and we wish him well.”

With today’s trade, the Wolves have now acquired four draft selections by moving two overage players including: Two second-, one third- and one fourth-round draft selection.
