The Laurentian Voyageurs women's hockey team have taken a page out of the Sudbury Wolves current playbook, and not in a good way at all.

Just like the local OHLers, the LU ladies have encountered a serious dearth of scoring, shut out in three of their four opening games of the 2014-2015 OUA hockey season.

After kicking things off with losses to the Waterloo Warriors (1-0) and Laurier Golden Hawks (4-0) in early October, the Voyageurs fared only marginally better this past weekend.

The team netted their first two goals of the year in a 4-2 loss to the UOIT (University of Ontario Institute of Technology) Ridgebacks, with tallies from Lindsey Brazill and Taylor Philip making it close in the third before Laura Marchese added some insurance for the homeside, netting the final goal at 13:36 of the third period.

Facing the No. 3 team in the country on Sunday, the Laurentian ladies struggled to mount a sustained attack, defeated 6-0 by the Queen's Gaels in Kingston. Taryn Pilon paced the Gaels' attack with a two-goal effort, while Sudbury native Stephanie Pascal earned a shutout in her first OUA game, stopping all 21 shots that LU directed her way.

The Voyageurs now have a couple of weeks to regroup, playing at home for the first time this year on the weekend of Oct. 25-26. Laurentian welcomes the Windsor Lancers and Western Mustangs, closing out a four game homestand against UOIT and Queen's the following weekend.
