Four of six championship finals were decided by just one goal, including two that required overtime, as the Sudbury 80's Tournament wrapped up another busy weekend of minor hockey action at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex on Sunday.

Captain Marc Degagne netted his second goal of the game just 55 seconds into the four-on-four session, lifting the Fort William Hurricanes to a 3-2 win over the Stouffville Clippers in the midget gold-medal affair.

Alex Goettliche rounded out the scoring for the winners, with Nic Rabito and Jake Rodgers replying in a losing cause for Stouffville. The Minor Bantams also needed a fourth period of hockey to settle matters, as the Orillia Terriers trimmed the Nickel City Jr. Sons 3-2.

Goals by Chelsea St. Jacques and Brennan Charbonneau staked the Sons to a 2-0 at the end of the second period, with the Terriers tearing it up in the third. Marcus MacInnis-Williamson and Lucas Earle scored roughly three minutes apart, forcing the issue as the teams sat knotted at 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

Forty-eight seconds later, Lucas Hunter solved matters, ensuring the Orillia crew would enjoy a more pleasant drive home courtesy of their 3-2 triumph. The Major Bantams barely avoided overtime, thanks to Keenan Bertrand of the Timmins Propane Energy Solutions North Stars.

Bertrand buried his second goal of the game with just 30 seconds to play as Timmins trimmed the Nickel City Major Bantam Jr. Sons 4-3. Jack Hagerty joined his teammate with a two-goal effort in the championship finale, with Joel Pitre, Patrick Godin and Calub Rivers answering for the Sons.

The West Ferris Novice Trappers recorded yet another victory for the out-of-town contingent, slipping past the Nickel City Novice Jr. Sons 3-2. Tallies from Tyler Moore and Mason Wray sandwiched around a reply from Cain Savage gave the Trappers a 2-1 lead heading into the final period of play.

Nate Gravelle doubled the advantage for West Ferris, finding the back of the net exactly one minute into period three, before Tyson Rismond made things interesting, converting on the power play for Nickel City with 5:25 showing on the scoreboard.

In a contest that was far closer than the final score would indicate, markers from Brett White and Nicholas Fogarty just 24 seconds apart, late in the middle stanza, snapped a 1-1 tie, helping the Sudbury Major Peewee AA Wolves to a 5-1 win over the Sudbury Minor Peewee AAA Wolves.

Jacob Demoré added a pair of insurance goals for the winners in the final 68 seconds, one into an empty net, with Lucas Gigliotti capping the offence. Jimmy Blanchard scored the only goal for the Minor Peewee Wolves, also ringing a shot off the goal post just prior to the two-goal outburst from the major peewees.

And finally, in a matchup of familiar opponents from the nation's capital, the Cumberland Jr. Grads defeated the Upper Ottawa Valley Aces 5-1, as Tristan Derraugh paced the attack with a pair of goals.

Connor Carter, Brady Martel and Benjamin Pribaz also found their way on to the scoresheet for the Grads, with Sean Doughty breaking the ice with the first goal of the game, scoring in the opening minute for Upper Ottawa Valley.
