The Sudbury Wolves will host Fabio Belli Memorial Night Saturday when the star-studded Erie Otters make their one and only visit to the Sudbury Arena this year.

The evening, dedicated to the former city councillor who passed away suddenly last April, will honour the man who made a name as a strong supporter of both the City of Greater Sudbury, as well as the local sports scene, always giving of himself for the good of the region.

An avid Wolves fan, Belli was a billet to former Sudbury juniors Gerome Guidice, John McFarland and Mathew Campagna. A local business owner, Belli was elected to council, ironically, on Oct. 25, 2010.

Serving on numerous boards, Belli was heavily involved with the Panhellenic Soccer Club, as well as the summer tournament, ensuring that it remained alive as the Impact Tournament following the move to one club rep soccer in the area.

A longtime member of the Caruso Club, Belli was proud of his Italian Heritage, a staunch supporter of both the Roma Soccer Club, as well as the NHL's Edmonton Oilers.

Belli is survived by his two daughters, Emma and Brianna, and his wife, Susan. The Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club, through the the Burgess/Edwards families, have donated a thousand tickets for this night, to be sold at a discounted price of $15.

Funds raised from the sale of the tickets will be put toward the Brianna and Emma Belli Education Trust Fund, along with the proceeds of the 50/50 ticket sales at the game.

There will also be a silent auction table set up in the lower lobby, next to the Sudbury Wolves souvenir booth where Belli could be found on nearly every single home date.

Tickets for the game may be purchased at Ti Amo's Cafe (downtown on Cedar Street), Lockerby ConfectionaryConfectionary, Happiness is...Dancing (Dollard Avenue), St. Charles College, as well as the The Frame Maker on Lasalle Boulevard.
