Fixter apologizes for profanity-laden exchange with reporter

In a statement issued today on the team's website, Sudbury Wolves Head Coach Paul Fixter apologized for a profanity-laden exchange Oct. 22 with Sault Star reporter Peter Ruicci.

"I apologize for my use of profanity after last evening's loss to the Greyhounds,” Fixter says in the statement issued Oct. 23. “I could have chosen my words more carefully, however, I stand by my players, the organization and the fans of the Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club.

“The coaching staff is a passionate group and we feel the stress of losing. We are working diligently to strive to improve our record and make the fans of the Sudbury Wolves proud."

The incident was captured on video by Sault Ste Marie news outlet Local 2, an affiliate of SooToday.com.

It has since gone viral, with mentions on Sports Illustrated's website, SI.com, Yahoo.com hockey blog, BuzzingtheNet.com, The Hockey News and on TSN's sports blog, BarDown.
