It was still a long way from perfect football weather, but the Lively Hawks and Korah Colts were tired of waiting.

Both teams would have to deal with cold, wintery conditions in Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday, with the hometown Colts emerging as the 2014 NOSSA junior football champions thanks to a 14-0 win over the Hawks.

Darian Belkosky recorded a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Colts, with Aaron Grawbager adding a convert, as well as a late single to round out the scoring.

With players finding their time commitment strained between an extended football season and other winter sports, Lively would make the trek to the Soo with just 22 bodies.

"It was a good effort, especially considering the short bench that we had," noted Hawks head coach Reg Bonin.

Defensively, Bonin was especially pleased with the work of both Ryan Rouleau and Jeremy Welsh, pointing out that both enjoyed great games as part of the Lively defensive unit.

Initially scheduled to be played on Saturday, the NOSSA junior final was postponed due to a heavy snow fall, re-scheduled until Tuesday afternoon.

It was a somewhat similar story for the varsity lads, as the Superior Heights Steelhawks and Lo-Ellen Park Knights are now scheduled to duke it out on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Lock City.
