Kyle Capobianco has been promoted to assistant captain of the Sudbury Wolves.

Capobianco, 17, was a first-round selection of the Sudbury Wolves, sixth overall, in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection.

The 6-1, 180-lb defenceman is one of the leading scorers on the team this year and is one of the cornerstones that the Sudbury Wolves will be relying on to improve their on-ice success in the future.

Capobianco is also identified on the NHL Central Scouting “Watch List” for the upcoming NHL draft.

“Kyle demonstrates leadership qualities that will benefit all players coming through our organization,” said Wolves’ head coach Paul Fixter. “Kyle is one of our most skilled players, he wants to win, and he cares about the Sudbury Wolves.

“He is highly regarded by his teammates, and he will play a leading role in the future of the Sudbury Wolves.”

Capobianco joins captain Brody Silk and assistant captains Nathan Pancel and Jeff Corbett as the team’s leadership group.

Capobianco is currently tied for third in team scoring with three goals, 12 assists for 15 points in 23 games. He is among the league leaders in scoring among defencemen.

Last season, Capobianco recorded 11 points in 53 games with Sudbury. The Mississauga native was a member of the Oakville Rangers Midget team that captured the 2013 OHL Cup.
