Timpano earns CHL goaltender of the week honours

Sudbury Wolves netminder Troy Timpano has been named the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week. Timpano posted a 2-0-0-0 record, which included a shutout victory with a goals-against average of 0.50 and save percentage of .986 for the week ending Dec.

Sudbury Wolves netminder Troy Timpano has been named the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week.

Timpano posted a 2-0-0-0 record, which included a shutout victory with a goals-against average of 0.50 and save percentage of .986 for the week ending Dec. 14.

Timpano made 70 saves in two games last week backstopping the Wolves to a pair of victories. He earned back-to-back first star honours including Friday night with a 43-save performance collecting his first career shutout in a 3-0 win over the Windsor Spitfires, then again on Saturday with 27 saves in a 3-1 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs.

Timpano, a 17-year-old from Pickering, Ont., is playing in his second career OHL season with the Wolves. So far this season, the 2016 NHL Draft prospect has a 5-16-1-0 record with a goals-against-average 4.30 and save percentage of .892, but ranks fifth in the OHL with 717 saves.
