The Sudbury Wolves put in another solid effort, but once again it didn't result in a victory.

Thursday night at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, the Wolves opened the scoring at 7:13 of the first period, but that was it for the offence as the Spitfires went on to a 4-1 win.

Wolves interim head coach David Matsos said the bounces have to start going their way soon.

"It was another case like it's been for the last four games where you battle and battle, and, unfortunately, you end up on the wrong side of the final score," said Matsos.

"They took the shotclock to us in the third period, but I don't think it's a reflection of how many scoring chances we gave up. A lot of the stuff was coming from the top and Troy Timpano was outstanding and we hung in for as long as we could."

After the Wolves scored first, the Spitfires tied the game 1:21 later as the two teams ended the first period 1-1. There was no scoring in the second period, but the Spitfires outshot the Wolves 20-5 in the third and outscored them 3-0.

A highlight for the Wolves was the first OHL goal for Wolves forward David Zeppieri.

"It was good to get the monkey off the back," said Zeppieri. "It was bothering me a little bit, but I had some laughs with the guys and it's good to get it over with. Now it's time to move forward."

As for the game, Zeppieri said it was a game they should have won.

"We came out hard, and I thought we were generating some good chances, but the third period just got away from us."

The Wolves have now lost 10 games in a row as their overall record drops to 7-31-1-1. On the road they're 2-14-1-1.

Matsos said he is glad they get to go back to work right away as they play Friday night.
"It's a great thing. This team we're playing tomorrow night is struggling, and if we keep playing like we have, we're going to be right there with them.”

The Wolves are in Saginaw tonight to face the Spirit, and then finish the weekend Saturday night in Plymouth.
