Wismer leads LU women at Fred Foot Invitational

The Laurentian women’s indoor track team returned with two medals, six personal bests and five OUA qualifying times from the University of Toronto’s Fred Foot Invitational this weekend.
The Laurentian women’s indoor track team returned with two medals, six personal bests and five OUA qualifying times from the University of Toronto’s Fred Foot Invitational this weekend.

The Vees dominated the 3000m and were once again led by Katie Wismer, who won the event by running an 18-second personal best time of 9:55.41. Breaking the OUA qualifying standard by 45 seconds, it was the second fastest time by a Laurentian runner in the past 25 years.

Other OUA qualifying times were set by Marissa Lobert, Michelle Kennedy, Emily Marcolini and Maddy Bak, who placed third, fourth, fifth and sixth in the 3000m. Marcolini and Bak also set personal bests.

Also setting personal bests were Nicole Rich in the 300m (45.7) and Megan Crocker in the 1000m (3:28.75) and Kayla Gallo with an indoor best in the 3000m (10:46.40).

The Laurentian track squad’s next event is the York Open in two weeks.
