Some of the North's best young skiers hit the slopes in Sudbury and North Bay this past weekend for the Dual City Slalom Festival.

Participants ranged from U14 and U16 to U18 and included racers from Sudbury’s Adanac Ski Club, Sault Ste. Marie Ski Runners, Timmins Ski Racers, North Bay Ski Racing Club and Elliott Lake Ski Club.

Severe wind and -20 temperatures made for some challenging racing on Saturday, but Sudbury turned out to be the complete opposite with a balmy -1 on the thermometre and overcast skies.

North Bay's Dagmar D'Agostino (U16) took the women's event ahead of Jazmine Chartrand (Timmins) and Georgia Moore-McLeod (Searchmont). Greater Sudbury's Riley Ransom (U16) had a strong fourth-place finish.

For the men, Conrad Nori of Searchmont won the event, ahead of Joel Beaudette (also from Searchmont) in second and Sudbury's own Simon Yoo taking third place.
