Leading 2-1 after two periods and with a series victory in sight, the North Bay Trappers turned to a new addition to the team to help them reach their goal.

A pair of third-period goals from Charlie Iserhoff, the final one into an empty net, help lift the visitors from North Bay to a 4-1 win over the Nickel City Sons.

That triumph has advanced the Trappers to the Great North Midget League semi-finals, a series that will start at the home of the Sault Ste Marie Thunderbirds on Saturday.

Jack Drinkwalter opened the scoring for North Bay about five minutes in, with Joe Whittet doubling the advantage late in the second period. But Tyler Read got one back before the end of the middle stanza, making things much more interesting heading to the final 20 minutes of play.

That's when Iserhoff, a third-year midget who moved to North Bay for schooling before enquiring about hooking up with the AAA midgets, took control of the game. He provided coach Mike Reise with an extra cushion at 7:49 of the third, icing the contest with only two seconds to play.

The Trappers opened the best of three affair with a 6-2 win at home on Saturday, before the Sons battled back to take game two 1-0 in overtime the next afternoon.
