After squeezing into championship-round play (top eight) by virtue of a 7-0 win Tuesday over Mayfield, a rout that enabled the NOSSA champs to capture the tie-breaker with the Centennial Spartans of Guelph, the Alouettes found themselves matched up against the top-seeded Appleby College Blue Dogs, a squad that earned first place in Pool A with a record of 3-0-1.

With just three minutes to play, Notre-Dame held a perilous 2-1 lead, courtesy of goals from Taylor McGaughey and Kaylie Venedam. Then, Appleby College sniper Jennifer Dumont went to work, scoring both the equalizer and game-winning goal in overtime, propelling the Blue Dogs to a 3-2 win.

On Wednesday afternoon, Appleby booked their ticket to the finals, again with an overtime win, this time edging the Louis Riel Rebelles (Ottawa) 2-1. In fact, every single one of the six encounters that were contested yesterday at the OFSAA AAA/AAAA Championships in Ottawa was decided by a single goal:
