Through the 2014-2015 regular season of the Northern Ontario AAA Hockey League (NOHL), the Sudbury Major Bantam AAA Wolves were very good.

In the playoffs, they have been even better.

After finishing in first place with a record of 22-9-9, 10 points ahead of the North Bay Trappers, the Wolves have been on a post-season tear. They recorded their sixth straight win Saturday night in Walden, capturing the league championship with a 6-3 win over the Nickel City Sons.

Coach Barry McCrory and staff preached a "defence-first" approach all year long, one that allowed the Wolves to lead the league with a stingy 2.50 goals against average in 40 games from September through March.

In six playoff games to date, the Sudbury crew have surrendered a total of just seven goals, with netminders Cameron Lamour and Alex Vendette combining to post shutouts in half of those games.

In Game 3 of the league grand finale, it was the Wolves' offence that would shine, with Mathieu Dokis-Dupuis and Brett Jacklin scoring two goals each, while Billy Moskal and Nick Graham supplied solo tallies.

Mathieu Seguin, Christian Gaudreau and Ryan Fournier replied for the Sons, who were without league-leading scorer and NOHL MVP Damien Giroux for the finals, due to injury.

The local crew will head to Timmins from March 30 to April 4, site of the 2015 All-Ontario Bantam AAA Championships.
