The trampoline and men’s artistic gymnastics component of the GymZone – Sudbury Laurels group were in Whitby and Mississauga earlier this month, tackling their third and final qualifiers of the season.

The trampoline representatives posted another set of strong results, led by Kyle Lapierre, second overall in Men’s Level 7 age 18+ division. Jay Norrie (sixth place – Level 1 – Men’s 13+), Pauleena Moote (seventh place – Level 4 – 14 and under) and Halley Bakers (16th place – Level 2 – ages 13-14) rounded out the list of local participants in the competition that was hosted by Anti-Gravity Trampoline in Whitby.

Across town, young Zach Cleaver continues to show encouraging signs of progress in this, his first year of provincial level men’s artistic gymnastics. Cleaver earned a fourth-place ribbon on the vault, finishing sixth on both the parallel bars and pommel horse.

In addition to their upcoming all-Ontario meets, local gymnasts are also preparing for the annual Raise the Bar interclub event, hosted by the GymZone. This year’s meet will take place on April 18 and 19, at the New Sudbury home of the Sudbury Laurels on Gemmell Street.
