The Northern Chill 15U Girls could not have been much more "middle of the pack" as they competed at the Bugarski Cup Championship Central tournament in King City late last month.

With nine teams comprising the field of entries, the Chill finished Pool B play squeezed between the Markham WASPS 15U crew and the Barrie Elites 15U Black.

Seeded in eighth place entering the event, the Sudbury girls made quick work of their Barrie opponents in Game 1, downing the Elites Black 25-17, 25-17, before dropping a 19-25, 14-25 decision to the eventual gold-medal-winning team from Markham.

Their middle-of-Pool-B placement would match the Chill against the second-place team in Pool C, Etobicoke 381 Volleyball Club - 15U. A back-and-forth affair would see the locals fall just short, defeated 24-26, 25-20, 11-15.

From there, it was on to a rematch with Barrie, as the Elites bested the Richmond Hill Thundercats before being sent to the consolation draw following a straight set loss to the Georgetown Impact.

In the end, the Chill would defeat Barrie by a combined score that was identical to their first encounter, sweeping the Elites 25-16, 25-18, and settling for a fifth-place finish in the nine-team grouping.

The 15U Chill squad will now ready themselves for the OVA Provincial Championships, taking place at RIM Park in Waterloo from April 10-12.
The 2014-2015 edition of the Northern Chill 15U girls features Kayla Murray, Becca Hopkins, Marissa Beeson, Christina Rorison, Sydney Coles, Mikaela Richter, Tasha Gervais, Brooke Smith, Allison Labrash, Lexi Johnson, Brittney Chevrier, Samantha McGrath, head coach Carly Santi, and assistant coaches Michelle Claveau and Kristen Sheffield.
