City skaters host Let's Skate and earn a few medals

Still, a handful of Sudbury area talent shone through at the April 10 event. Alyssa Murray (Sudbury Skating Club) finished second to Amanda Stan (Richmond Training Centre) in the Junior Women's free skate, finishing third in the short program.

Murray posted scores of 58.45 and 26.56 over the course of the three-day competition. Maya Lappin (Richmond Hill FSC) won the Novice Women's grouping, with Lara McCelland (Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club) finishing well back in second place.

The Sudbury Skating Club tandem of Madeline Baron and Jillian Bushey were right in the mix for third and fourth place, with Baron completing her routines with scores of 26.93 and 42.71, and Bushey at 20.31 and 44.79.

There were no Northern Ontario competitors in the Novice Men's classification, as Iliya Kovler (Richmond Hill FSC) took top spot. The Pre-Novice women were broken into three groupings, with Abby O'Bonsawin (Sudbury SC) finishing third in Group 1 (19.62 and 35.22), Jennavieve Hinton-Cannard (Sudbury SC) fourth in Group 2 (24.78 and 34.87) and Mackenzie Anderson (Sudbury SC) placing fifth in Group 3 (17.64 and 31.33).

Erica Gomirato (Sudbury) finished second to Sophie Larocque of Sturgeon Falls in the Gold Triathlon, while the Bronze Triathlon featured Cassidy Burton of Sudbury (1st, 87.62 pts), Elizabeth Vaillancourt of Copper Cliff (2nd, 71.48) and Emily Armstrong of Walden (3rd, 63.08).
