The Baseball Academy is teaming up with both the Valley East Minor Baseball Association and the Sudbury Minor Baseball Association.

This Friday (May 8), from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the James Jerome Sports Complex, the groups will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth.

Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills completion of Major League Baseball, a grassroots program designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.

Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14. All young athletes have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks, as well as the National Finals at the 2015 MLB All Star Game in Cincinnati.

The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age and gender group at the local competition, will be recognized in Sudbury, advancing to the "sectional" level. All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver from prior to the start of the competition.

For questions concerning the competition, please contact your local co-ordinator, Jean-Gilles Larocque at [email protected].
