SDSSAA Second Division soccer action kicked off Monday at the James Jerome Sports Complex, as the Horizon Aigles and Sacré-Coeur Griffons hooked up in a male/female doubleheader.
The young ladies from Horizon drew first blood, posting a 3-1 win over Sacré-Coeur, as Maxine Pilon scored twice for the winners. Ashley Savage rounded out the offense for the Aigles, with Shannon Laurin replying in a losing cause for the Griffons.
The boys tilt was a tad closer, but in the end, it was still the Valley school walking off with bragging rights. Goals from Xavier Taillefer and Jesse Lemire vaulted Horizon to a 2-1 win, with Franck Shu Atoh countering for Sacré-Coeur.
Action continues all this week on the turf of James Jerome, with teams back on the grass at their school fields beginning on May 11.
