Led by the talented toe of scoring sensation Aidan Martel, the St. Charles College Cardinals junior boys team racked up four straight wins last weekend in North Bay to capture the Nipissing Invitational Tournament.

Martel potted no less than nine goals over the four-game span, as the Cardinals outscored their opponents 12-3. Martel netted a pair right out of the gates, lifting St. Charles to a 4-0 win over the Algonquin Barons, with Gregory Trudeau-Paquet and Jacob Kruk rounding out the attack.

Martel duplicated that performance in game two as the Cardinals stopped the St. Joseph Scollard Hall Bears 3-1, with Brett Jacklin joining Martel on the scoresheet.

Martel made it three straight two-goal efforts after he netted two more in the Cards' 2-1 triumph over the St Mary's Knights of Sault Ste Marie.

Matched up against the Bears for a second meeting in the championship final, the Cardinals mirrored their earlier effort, posting a 3-1 win.

Once again, Martel was a one-man show for St. Charles, drilling a hat trick, while Levi Udeschini replied in a losing cause for their North Bay opponents.
