Nine returning players for the Lady Wolves

With a national title safely secured, a follow-up act will not be easy for the Sudbury Lady Wolves organization.
With a national title safely secured, a follow-up act will not be easy for the Sudbury Lady Wolves organization. Yet when they hit the ice in August and September, growth and development will be exactly what the top teams within the organization will be looking for.

The two-time defending provincial champion Midget "AA" Lady Wolves will return no less than nine players from the group that captured gold at the 2015 Esso Cup in Red Deer (Alberta), as incoming coach Mike McGaughey inherits a very talented crew.

The only real influx of imports came between the pipes as a pair of out-of-towners form the goaltending tandem, with Trystin Elford (New Liskeard) and Loryn Pearson (North Bay) following in the footsteps of Danika Ranger.

The blueline brigade will be anchored by veterans Kailey Lapensee, Jamie Ricci and Alexie Legault, with Logan Duffy and Makayla Blanchard joining the crew. Up front, the Lady Wolves will likely reunite the trio of Melisa Kingsley and twin sisters Meagan and Taylor McGaughey.

Tayler Murphy, Sophie Lebrun and Myla McCormick are all back, with Brooke Kennedy, Kiana Verbiwski and Megan Potvin added to the fold. The team will take part in the Beantown Classic in Boston in July before kicking off the season in earnest with their traditional Labour Day weekend trip to the NAHA Showcase in Vermont.

The Bantam "AA" Lady Wolves are hoping that the growing pains of 2014-2015 pay dividends this coming season, having carried a larger than normal group of first year bantams. With former head coach Paul Lefebvre now devoting much of his time to his political aspirations, Murray Hancock takes over behind the bench.

The roster features Abbey Patterson, Crystale Trottier, Daphne Vigna, Deseray Zazulak, Jaiden Duncan, Jayde Hurley, Joelle Dubois, Lauren Hancock, Lily Hayden, Madison Laberge, Madisyn Papineau, Makayla Gratton, Mireille Kingsley, Mylene Lefebvre, Riley Maanselka, Taylor Scott and Veronique Hamelin.

Meanwhile, the Peewee "AA" team made in-roads within the very competitive LLFHL (Lower Lakes Female Hockey League) grouping last year, but have opted to focus on building their team closer to home in the coming year.

The roster for their squad is comprised of Kelsey Dunn, Elizabeth Laberge, Kristen Mrozewski, Lauren Fearn, Elise Belanger, Andrée Ouellette, Emily MacIsaac, Rebecca Slywchuk, Paige Crowder, Tessa Favero, Kianna Trottier, Kianna D'Attilio, Alexie Olivier, Breanna Coyne, Meghan Papineau, Mikayla Papineau, Sophie Bensley and head coach Marty Hancock.
