Sudbury's karate kids did the city proud, bringing home an impressive medal haul from the Karate Ontario Grand Prix in Brampton on June 14.

Sudbury's karate kids did the city proud, bringing home an impressive medal haul from the Karate Ontario Grand Prix in Brampton on June 14.

 

The winners are as follows:

 

  • Ethan Bubba - silver 12-13 elite kata  
  • Bradley Chaput - gold 14-15 elite kata and gold 16-17 elite kata 
  • Marissa Meandro - silver 14-15 elite kata and bronze 16-17 elite kata  
  • John Howard silver - 16-17 elite kata. 
  • Melissa Wan - silver kata and gold team kata 
  • Juliana Meandro - silver 12-13 elite kata 
  • Ryan DiSalle - gold kata,  
  • Connor DiSalle - gold kata, gold kumite and gold team kata 
  • Duncan Smith - gold kata and gold team kata,  
  • Isla Smith - gold kata and gold kumite 


The athletes will be performing at the Canada day celebration at the Sudbury arena at 1:30 pm.

Chaput is a member of the WKF junior national team roster and will take part in a team training session in Toronto, July 9-11.

After the training and round robin, the team coaches will announce the top two junior athletes in each division to attend the 2015 Cadet and Junior Pan American Championships in Santa Cruz Bolivia, August 26-29, 2015.

Marissa Meandro was also invited to the training session but does not meet the age requirement for this year.
