Deciphering the signals from a third base coach in baseball is not always the easiest thing to do. The Sudbury Shamrocks Mosquitos, however, had no trouble at all picking up on the message from coach Trevor Goudreau.

Win five straight games in Brampton, and secure the banner at the Dave Dash Memorial Tournament for Leukemia Society.

While pushed on a couple of occasions, the young Shamrocks were rock solid, from start to finish. With pitchers Keenan Castle and Justin Lancup combining for the shutout, Sudbury blanked Mississauga North 14-0 in their opener.

Ben Fowke and Carson Harvey powered the locals at the plate, driving in three runs apiece, with Lancup adding two RBIs of his own.

In game two, Ryan Lacasse struck out five batters in two innings of work, getting relief help from Fowke and Cole McPhee as the Shamrocks stopped the Brampton Red Sox 7-4.

The Sudbury pitching rose to the occasion again, lifting the team to their third straight win as Carson Harvey and Ryan Rubic silenced the Forest Glen Giants bats, allowing the northern boys to register an 11-1 victory.

The locals mirrored that effort in the semi-finals, defeating the Milton Mets by the identical score of 11-1, as Lacasse went the distance on the mound, striking out nine.

Nathan Gravel, Harvey and Lancup recorded two RBIs each, as the Shamrocks moved on to the championship encounter.

Facing Newmarket in the final, the Shamrocks trotted four different pitchers out to the hill, holding on for a 10-8 win.

The 2015 Sudbury Shamrocks Mosquitos roster includes Ben Fowke, Ryan Rubic, Cole Goudreau, Keenan Castle, Carson Harvey, Brian Fink, Justin Lancup, Cole McPhee, Ryan Lacasse, Jesse Seguin, Nathan Gravel and Brandon Roney.

Joining Trevor Goudreau in the coaching department were Chris McPhee, Kevin Fowke, Jason Castle and Trevor Cain.

The Mosquitos are back in action this coming weekend, facing North Bay in a home and home three game set.
