A bevy of future NCAA soccer talent is expected to be on display this weekend in Sudbury, as a total of twelve top teams from across the province make their way to Northern Ontario for semi-final Ontario Cup action.

Three divisional finalists will be determined on Saturday and Sunday, with the OSA (Ontario Soccer Association) Cup finals running throughout September in Vaughan.

The U15 girls (2000) bracket brings together a pair of former Cup champions, with the Stoney Creek Battalion (2014 U14 Cup champions) and Ottawa South United Force (2013 U13 Cup champions) both having advanced to this point.

The Force edged Oakville SC 1-1 (4-3) on penalty kicks in order to earn the right to face the North London Galaxy Saturday at 3:00 p.m., while the Battalion and Woodbridge Strikers take to the turf pitch at the James Jerome Sports Complex beginning at 5:00 p.m.

The U14 boys (2001) features an interesting quartet of teams, including SC Toronto Yellow, the Futsal Ontario Cup champions this past winter. The Torontonians will face a familar foe, battling Epic FC Toronto at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Glen Shields FC Future surprised some onlookers, overcoming a 7-4-2 record in OPDL (Ontario Provincial Development League) play, and upsetting the Vaughan Azzuri Rebels in Pool "B" action, before trimming the Brampton Blast 2-1 in the Cup quarter-finals.

Glen Shields will go toe to toe with Oakville SC in the competition opening game at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Some 24 hours later, it will be the men's turn to take to the field, as the final four of the original field of forty that began play in early June enjoy the chance to strut their stuff.

London Marconi will be back to defend the crown that they captured for the first time in club history last September, besting the Vaughan Azzuri 3-1 one year ago.

The Marconi crew was built on the backs of a core of AEK London talent, the team which claimed the Ontario Cup men's open banner in 2008, 2010 and 2012. This time around, they will need to slip past Scarborough Wexford Hi-Profile, a regular visitor north to take part in the Sudbury Star Cup (formerly Caruso Club Tournament).

Should Marconi advance, they may very well match up against a regional rival. After knocking off Jagiellonia London in their first round game, London Croatia has picked up victories over Windsor Croatia, Oakville Hnnk Dalmacija and Scarborough GS United, with Mississauga Portofino standing between them and a berth in the finals.

Jagiellonia and Marconi sit dead even at the top of the standings in the highly competitive Western Ontario Soccer League, with London Croatia holding down third place.

Portofino will be led, offensively, by Nigerian Michael Aigbokie, the leading scorer in the WOSL South Premier Division (15 goals), and named as MVP of the Humber Hawks indoor soccer championship team this past March.

Mississauga and London Croatia kicks things off at 1:00 p.m., followed immediately by the Scarborough vs London Marconi match.
